Casey Stoner wins at Phillip Island

Casey Stoner had no mercy on his competitors at Phillip Island, winning race which he led from start to finish and leaving closest rival – Jorge Lorenzo – 8.5 seconds behind. This was 4th consecutive victory of Casey Stoner at Phillip Island, but also his 3rd victory in last 4 MotoGP races, showing rising form of ex MotoGP champion. Jorge Lorenzo was the only rider that came close to pace of Casey Stoner, but difference of 8.5 seconds at the end of the race says enough how close this was. Valentino Rossi grabbed final podium position at Phillip Island after exciting fight with Nicky Hayden in final stages of the race. Hayden once again had to settle in 4th place.

Ben Spies secured rookie of the year title by taking 5th place in Australia, edging Marko Simoncelli for this position. Colin Edwards was lonely in 7th place, while Aleix Espargaro, Marco Melandri and Randy de Puniet completed top 10 finishers at Phillip Island. Next race will take place on October 31st in Estoril.
